About

Irvine Center for Addiction Neuroscience

The Irvine Center for Addiction Neuroscience (ICAN), located at the University of California, Irvine, will create an environment that will enhance the education of students (undergraduate and graduate) and postdoctoral trainees, as well as attract philanthropic activity through public awareness and outreach programs both local and beyond. The impact is transformative in fertilizing addiction neuroscience research and collaborations incorporating genetic, epigenetic, systems/circuits, and clinical approaches, as well as patient care/outreach.

Led by Dr. Marcelo Wood, ICAN will bring together UCI drug abuse and addiction researchers to discuss research and identify areas of synergy that can be leveraged to address more significant questions in the field.

ICAN envisions the pursuit of the most difficult questions in addiction research, offer the highest quality addiction neuroscience education, and provide significant public education and addiction scientific literacy through outreach programs.
